Boolean Subalgebras of Orthoalgebras
We reconstruct orthoalgebras from their partially ordered set of Boolean subalgebras, and characterize partially ordered sets of this form, using a new notion of a direction. For Boolean algebras, this reconstruction is functorial, and nearly an equivalence.
متن کاملLow n Boolean Subalgebras
Every lown Boolean algebra, for 1 ≤ n ≤ 4, is isomorphic to a computable Boolean algebra. It is not yet known whether the same is true for n > 4. However, it is known that there exists a low5 subalgebra of the computable atomless Boolean algebra which, when viewed as a relation on the computable atomless Boolean algebra, does not have a computable copy. We adapt the proof of this recent result ...
متن کاملRegular Subalgebras of Complete Boolean Algebras
It is proved that the following conditions are equivalent: (a) there exists a complete, atomless, σ–centered Boolean algebra, which does not contain any regular, atomless, countable subalgebra, (b) there exists a nowhere dense ultrafilter on ω. Therefore the existence of such algebras is undecidable in ZFC. In ”forcing language” condition (a) says that there exists a non– trivial σ–centered for...
متن کاملQuotients of Boolean algebras and regular subalgebras
Let B,C be Boolean algebras and e : B → C an embedding. We examine the hierarchy of ideals on C for which e : B → C/I is a regular (i.e. complete) embedding. As an application we deal with the interrelationship between P(ω)/fin in the ground model and in its extension. If M is an extension of V containing a new subset of ω, then in M there is an almost disjoint re nement of the family ([ω]) . M...
متن کاملSubalgebras of a Finite Monadic Boolean Algebra
For a finite n-element set X, n ≥ 1, let N [X] denote the number of elements of X and let p(n) denote the number of all partitions of X. If Bn is a Boolean algebra with n atoms, let A(Bn) be the set of all atoms of Bn. It is known that there exists a bijective correspondence between the set S(Bn) of all subalgebras of Bn and the set of all partitions of A(Bn), i.e., N [S(Bn)] = p(n). The follow...
